Research Project:  The influence of hydrogeomorphic and ecologic factors on fish communities: an urban perspective.

Project Description:  This project is a part of the Projet Ruisseau, along with the Conseil régional de l’environnement de Laval and the GRIL-UQAM. We seek to assess the impact of human activities on 7 small urban streams situated in Laval, Quebec. Specifically, our research will explore the possible impact of urbanization on runoff, temperature and flow regimes, water and fish habitat quality, and the diversity of fish communities in these streams.  Additionally, we will explore the potential biotic recruitment of these streams for targeted conservation efforts.

Keywords:  Aquatic ecology, fluvial geomorphology, urban streams, fish community, fish beta-diversity, urbanization, conservation.
